Yankees Announce Move After 18-2 Loss to Dodgers

The New York Yankees were blown out by the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday. In a rematch of the 2024 World Series that LA took in five games, New York looked completely overmatched.

While they still lead the American League East by 5.5 games with 35-22 record, the Yankees are looking for a morale boost in the series finale against Los Angeles on Sunday. New York has dropped the first two games of this series, with its pitching being no match for LA's high-powered offense.

Earlier Sunday, it was reported by Jack Curry of YES Network that New York had made a move.

According to Curry's report, the Yankees had promoted veteran starting pitcher Carlos Carrasco to join the club in Los Angeles. The corresponding roster move was not initially revealed, but that has since been officially announced by the team.

"Prior to today’s game, the Yankees made the following roster moves," the team announced. "Selected RHP Carlos Carrasco (#59) to the active roster. Optioned RHP Yerry de los Santos to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre."

While the Carrasco news comes as no surprise after Curry's report, the corresponding move has now been revealed to be de los Santos heading back to Triple-A. In 10 games at the MLB level this season, de los Santos has a solid 3.00 ERA. This is despite his WHIP being high at 1.917 due to 17 hits and six walks being surrendered in just 12.0 innings of work.

As they look to salvage the series against LA, the Yankees will also have their sights set on an ALCS rematch against the Cleveland Guardians, Carrasco's former team, beginning on Tuesday.
