The New York Yankees have dealt with some injuries this season, but they’re still playing some good baseball. Clarke Schmidt is one of the players who is still recovering from injury, and he hasn’t played yet this season as he rehabs from Tommy John surgery.
There have been updates for Schmidt throughout the season, and the latest one is good news for the Yankees.
“Clarke Schmidt is scheduled to face hitters tomorrow for the first time in his rehab from Tommy John surgery,” Greg Joyce of the New York Post Sports wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
The last time that Schmidt pitched in a game was last season, when he had a 3.32 ERA across 14 outings. There’s no question that Schmidt has played well when he’s on the field; the Yankees would love to get him back at some point this season. With him scheduled to face hitters tomorrow, that’s a sign his return could be soon.
With the injuries that the Yankees are currently dealing with, it’s good to see that they’re still near the top of the division and could very well be in the top spot at the end of the year.
Another player the Yankees are waiting to get back is Aaron Judge, who has missed a lot of time due to a rib injury. The latest update on him is that he’s making progress but still has some ways to go before getting back on the field, according to Bryan Hoch.
“Aaron Judge said the rib re-imaging showed ‘some progress, some healing going on, but not fully healed. So we’re still waiting on one more doctor to take a look at it, kind of see how we progress forward the next couple weeks. But definitely a positive sign that we’re seeing some healing,’” Hoch wrote on X.
