Yankees' Double-A affiliate ballpark submerged after historic flooding

The remnants of Hurricane Ida dropped a historic amount of rain throughout portions of New Jersey and New York on Wednesday night and Thursday morning and left much of the region flooded.

The Somerset Patriots, the Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees that call TD Bank Ballpark in Bridgewater, N.J. home, were left with a venue almost fully submerged following the storm:

The Patriots released a statement on the matter on Thursday morning:

According to NBC Washington, the Patriots are set to complete a road trip on Sunday before returning home to host the Hartford Yard Goats this coming Tuesday night. The status of that game and the club's final homestand of the season are understandably up in the air as officials in the region attend to more serious matters ahead of Labor Day weekend.

As of 2:20 pm ET Thursday, at least 29 deaths had been linked with the storms that impacted the Northeast, per an NBC News report.

Earlier in the day, a football game between the Temple Owls and Rutgers Scarlet Knights scheduled to occur at Rutgers' SHI Stadium on Thursday evening was postponed to Saturday afternoon because of flooding in New Jersey.
