Cam Schlittler's spot in Tuesday's All-Star Game isn't locked in yet, but manager Aaron Boone sounded optimistic Saturday.

Asked whether the New York Yankees expect Schlittler to pitch in the All-Star Game, Boone said he sees a good chance of that happening, per The Athletic’s Brendan Kuty.

"So, we'll see," Boone said. "We'll see how it all shakes out."

The Yankees rookie right-hander has been lights out in his first full season in the majors, posting a 9-5 record with a 2.01 ERA and 131 strikeouts through 112 innings. These numbers have been a major factor in the team's success this season and have earned him a spot on the American League All-Star roster alongside teammate Aaron Judge, Cody Bellinger and Ben Rice.

The 25-year-old takes to the mound on Saturday against the Washington Nationals, his final start before heading to the All-Star Game in Philadelphia.

In between starts, Schlittler throws a session, which in this case would line up on Tuesday, just in time for the All-Star Game. It would also line up perfectly in the upcoming series against the Los Angeles Dodgers following the All-Star break on Friday.

Even if the Yankees sign off, don't expect Schlittler to be out on the mound for too long; Saturday's start most likely means he would be capped at an inning or two if he does pitch on Tuesday.

Schlittler has downplayed his chances of pitching in the All-Star Game in a report from MLB.com's Bill Ladson.

"The team comes first," Schlittler said. "They are a priority. If it lines up, it lines up. If it doesn’t, that’s fine as well."
