Yankees GM: Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, others should be ready for Opening Day

New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman delivered some good news regarding multiple players, including a pair of sluggers, while speaking with reporters on Tuesday.

Per Joe Pantorno of AM New York Metro and the Associated Press (h/t ESPN ), Cashman said that Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, Aaron Hicks, and James Paxton are all on pace to be available if the Yankees open the season versus the defending world-champion Washington Nationals on July 23, as expected.

The Yankees shut Judge down during spring training due to complications caused by a stress fracture to his first right rib that he suffered last season.

A calf strain downed Stanton in February and likely would've sidelined him through the original opening day before the coronavirus pandemic forced MLB to suspend play in March.

Hicks underwent Tommy John surgery last October to repair a damaged ulnar collateral ligament and was expected to miss between eight to 10 months.

Paxton is set to return to the starting rotation after undergoing spinal surgery in early February.

Cashman also said he believes team workouts will begin this weekend, either on Friday or Saturday.
