The New York Yankees had some much-needed injury updates on three key players before their game against the Detroit Tigers on Monday.
YES Network's Meredith Marakovits provided an injury report on starting pitcher Max Fried (left elbow bone bruise), outfielder Trent Grisham (right hamstring strain) and designated hitterGiancarlo Stanton (right calf strain). All three are currently on the injured list, with Stanton being out since April 24 and Fried sidelined since May 13.

Marakovits started with Stanton, who recently had a setback in his rehab. Yankees manager Aaron Boone is hopeful that Stanton will ramp up activities again this week, and he may travel with the team to Boston during their series against the Red Sox this weekend. He will not be activated during that series, but will be "under the eye of the trainers".
The 36-year-old slugger was hitting .256/.302/.422 with three home runs and a 101 wRC+ in 96 plate appearances. Although this production was only modest, Stanton is well-known for the impact he brings to the Yankees' lineup with his presence alone; his fearsome power often results in teammates around him getting better pitches to hit.
Grisham, who sustained his injury on June 12, may also join the team in Boston, according to Marakovits. He is expected to ramp up his own baseball activities as well. After a slow start to the season, Grisham was starting to get into a groove at the plate; he currently carries a .232/.341/.406 slash line with 11 doubles, eight home runs and a 111 wRC+ in 66 games.
Finally, Marakovits revealed that Fried will be facing hitters soon, with Boone believing this will occur by the end of next week. The 32-year-old southpaw got off to a strong start, posting a 3.21 ERA and 2.72 FIP over his first 10 starts along with 50 strikeouts in 61.2 innings pitched.
The Yankees are also missing superstar outfielder Aaron Judge, who is sidelined until August at the earliest with a fractured rib. Even with this considerable attrition, the Bronx Bombers currently boast the best record in the American League at 46-30, and lead the Tampa Bay Rays by two games in the AL East.
New York begins a three-game series in Detroit against the Tigers on Monday, with Gerrit Cole facing Framber Valdez.
