Alex Rodriguez defined an entire era of baseball for the New York Yankees during his 12 years with the organization. He played a major role in delivering the club’s last World Series title in 2009 and enjoyed sustained success throughout his career.
Rodriguez built one of the most decorated careers in MLB history as a three‑time MVP, 14‑time All‑Star, 10‑time Silver Slugger, two‑time Gold Glove winner during his years at shortstop and a batting champion.
He finished with 3,115 hits, 696 home runs, 2,086 RBIs and 329 stolen bases while posting a lifetime .295 batting average, .380 on‑base percentage and .930 OPS across 2,784 games with the Seattle Mariners, Texas Rangers and Yankees.
Despite those accomplishments, Rodriguez has not been inducted into the Hall of Fame due to his admitted use of performance‑enhancing drugs and the 162‑game suspension he served in 2014.
Even so, Rodriguez remains one of the most respected voices in baseball and one of the most influential players of his generation. More than a decade removed from his final game, he has used that influence in a variety of ways.
On Tuesday, he announced on Instagram the launch of the inaugural A‑Rod Invitational, a new youth baseball tournament created in partnership with Kemper Sports.
His caption outlined the event’s mission and details, describing it as “a fundamentals‑first youth baseball tournament focused on development, competition, and love for the game.”
The tournament is only one part of Rodriguez’s broader post‑playing life. He has transformed himself into a prominent businessman, media personality and sports team owner.
As founder of A‑Rod Corp, he has invested in real estate, fitness brands, technology ventures and auto dealerships.
In 2021, Rodriguez and his business partner reached an agreement to purchase the NBA’s Minnesota Timberwolves and the WNBA’s Minnesota Lynx, with the sale finalized in 2025.
He has also become a regular MLB analyst for Fox Sports, contributing to their postseason coverage and remaining a visible presence in the sport.
With the launch of his youth tournament, Rodriguez continues to shape the next generation of players, extending his impact on the game long after his final at‑bat.
