Former New York Yankees star Alex Rodriguez has been named one of the worst celebrity golfers by Level, a men's lifestyle publication. In their list titled " The 7 Worst Celebrity Golfers, Ranked," Rodriguez was fifth.
Level's critique centers on Rodriguez's performance at the 2024 American Century Championship, where he consistently finished in the bottom five across all three rounds.
They quipped, "A stationary ball should be pretty easy for an all-time great baseball player to hit, right? Former MLB All-Star Alex Rodriguez would say otherwise after his performance in last year’s tournament."
A report from Sports Illustrated detailed a moment during the same tournament in which Rodriguez mishit a shot that nearly struck him.
Yes, he almost hit himself with an errant golf shot.
While Rodriguez may never join John Smoltz on the Senior Tour, A-Rod remains active in the sports world. He co-owns the NBA's Minnesota Timberwolves and is a baseball analyst for FOX Sports and ESPN.
Over 22 MLB seasons, he hit 696 home runs, won three American League MVP awards, earned 14 All-Star selections, and helped lead the Yankees to a World Series title in 2009. A 1993 first overall draft pick, Rodriguez starred for the Mariners, Rangers, and Yankees, rewriting the record books as one of the most feared right-handed hitters of his era. His legacy, however, is tarnished by PED suspensions and off-field controversies that often overshadowed his on-field brilliance.
While his golf game may not mirror his baseball achievements, Rodriguez continues to engage with fans across various platforms.
Level released the list to celebrate National Golf Day. While Rodriguez's golfing skills may leave much to be desired, he has plenty to keep himself busy these days with the NBA playoffs and the baseball season kicking into full gear.
