Yankees Make Decision On Juan Soto Tribute For Return To Bronx

Juan Soto will make his return to the Bronx this Friday for the first time since leaving the Yankees for the Mets in free agency.

Soto had an incredible 2024 season with the Yankees, owning a .288 batting average with 41 home runs and 109 RBI. He saved his biggest at-bat for Game 5 of the ALCS, crushing a three-run homer in the top of the 10th inning to essentially secure a spot in the World Series.

Despite having a ton of success with the Yankees, Soto decided to leave them in the winter for the Mets. The All-Star slugger agreed to a 15-year, $765 million contract.

Speaking to the media this week, Soto acknowledged that he'll probably receive a ton of boos when he steps up to the plate on Friday night.

"It's going to be 50,000 against 1. They're going to try to get on me, you know. It's part of it," Soto told the New York Post. "Whatever they do, they have a right to do it. It's going to be good. We're going to have a good time."

While it's expected that fans in the Bronx won't be kind to Soto, it was a bit unclear if the Yankees would give him a video tribute before the first pitch of the Subway Series. Moments ago though, we got our answer.

According to Brandon Tierney of WFAN Radio, the Yankees have nothing planned for Soto tonight.

"Breaking: The Yankees will NOT present a video tribute tonight for Juan Soto. Not happening. Heard it here first," Tierney reported on social media

Mets fans might accuse the Yankees of being "salty," but Soto was technically just a one-year rental for them.

Besides, the Yankees offered Soto a contract worth over $700 million. It's not like they got cheap with him. He simply chose the Mets over them. In return, they're choosing to ignore their brief time together.
