Yankees Make Giancarlo Stanton Decision Ahead of Red Sox Series Finale

The Boston Red Sox got much-needed wins on Friday and Saturday night, defeating the New York Yankees.

After Aaron Judge tied the game in the top of the 9th, the Yankees looked to be in a position to win the game.

Instead, the offense finally came through for Garrett Crochet, who threw 8.1 innings of a four-hit ball, allowing one earned run. While Crochet got the no-decision, he was the most significant factor in this game.

On Saturday, Hunter Dobbins was great and helped the Red Sox take home the series win with a 4-3 victory.

For the Yankees, they've now dropped four of five over the last week against the Red Sox, a concerning sign for a team looking to run away with the American League East.

They've been injured, but so have the Red Sox.

Regarding the injuries, there were question marks about Giancarlo Stanton returning for them in this series.

However, according to a report from Bryan Hoch of MLB.com, it seems unlikely that Stanton will return in this series because of the day game on Sunday.

“Giancarlo Stanton is expected to play again for Double-A Somerset on Saturday, Aaron Boone said. They aren’t ruling him out to play in Boston, but that seems unlikely with a day game Sunday,” he tweeted.

From the Yankees' perspective, there's no reason to get cute with Stanton.

If he has to miss another couple of games, that's what needs to happen. He's already been out the entire year, so chasing a regular-season game doesn't make much sense.

The Yankees will do just that, as the latest report from Hoch and others has stated that Stanton will return on Monday.
