The New York Yankees suffered an injury scare when left-handed starter Max Fried departed his start on Wednesday against the Baltimore Orioles with elbow posterior soreness; the club subsequently announced that he was scheduled to undergo further testing to determine the severity of his ailment.

However, Fried’s latest comments on his condition will help to put Yankees fans at ease. According to the man himself, he’s already planning on making his next scheduled start.

“I’m not too worried about a super long-term thing,” Fried said of his injury via Bryan Hoch on X. “If I can, I would love to be able to make my next start, but we’ll see.”

Additionally, Yankees manager Aaron Boone indicated that Fried was “feeling something” in between his starts and that he wasn’t concerned about the potential of a long-term injury.

“Felt like early on he was having a hard time getting loose and getting to that point. It was taking him several pitches in the inning to get to his (release) point,” Boone explained via CBS Sports. “He was feeling a little something in between starts, not all that abnormal to what he deals with throughout the season … In talking with him, [I’m] not that concerned. We’ll do all the testing and whatnot tomorrow.”

So far this season, Fried, who inked a massive eight-year, $218 million contract with the Yankees in 2024, has posted a 4-3 record with a 3.21 ERA, a 1.01 WHIP, and 50 total strikeouts. He’s earned exactly 1,100 strikeouts in his career over 192 starts (209 total games played).
