The New York Yankees are calling up outfielder Jasson Dominguez from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The 23-year-old has proved he is deserving of a call-up with three home runs, a .893 OPS and eight bags swiped across 24 games in AAA this season.
He will provide the Yankees with a young offensive switch-hitting bat whose elite discipline and power have been enhanced with his dominant performance in AAA this season.
In addition to his strong offense, the youngster has likely been called up to take over Giancarlo Stanton's roster spot. The 36-year-old has missed four games due to right calf tightness.
It's an unfortunate blow for the veteran, who was playing a hot bat early in the season. The Yankees remain in the top spot in the AL East (18-10) coming into April 27.

Last season, Dominguez's numbers with the Yankees consisted of 10 bombs, a .719 OPS and 23 stolen bases across 123 games. He will be looking to build on those numbers as he's developed and built confidence playing in the minors.
While his defensive abilities are still questionable in the outfield, his offense speaks for itself. Having him as DH with Stanton injured could also be an option.
Jasson Dominguez went 2-3 today, collecting both hits against a lefty. Jasson's defense continues to be questionable in left field; however, the bat has been playing in AAA.

Dominguez's time has come to demonstrate the improved power he's displayed in AAA early this season against left-handed pitchers (.389 against lefties). The development that Dominguez has generated in the minors makes him deserving of a call-up.
Hitting against lefties at the MLB level will be fundamental for Dominguez to be successful and remain in the lineup with more playing time.
