Yasiel Puig Recreates Viral AI Video With Madison Bumgarner
USA TODAY Sports

Yasiel Puig spent parts of six seasons with the Los Angeles Dodgers from 2013-18, emerging as one of the team’s most popular players during that time.

Among Puig’s signature moments with the Dodgers were his several on-field incidents involving former San Francisco Giants ace Madison Bumgarner. Perhaps their most famous exchange came during the 2016 season when Bumgarner famously shouted ‘Don’t look at me!’ at Puig, causing benches to clear.

Now 10 years later, the two were connected again in a viral, AI-generated video shared by Puig on Instagram. In the clip, the players dance and rap to the song “Hotel Lobby” by Quavo and Takeoff, mimicking a popular social media trend.

The clip emerged after a similar video involving current Dodgers pitchers Blake Snell and Tarik Skubal drew plenty of attention online. However, unlike the historic animosity between Puig and Bumgarner, Snell and Skubal have developed a genuine friendship since the latter joined L.A. at the trade deadline.

There has been a running joke between Snell and Skubal in recent weeks, with each player referring to the other as ‘little bro.’ Even though Snell is four years older than Skubal, both pitchers are widely considered two of the best starters in all of baseball.

Snell has made it known that he’s the “big bro” to Skubal, but regardless of who the actual ‘little bro’ is, the Dodgers have to be feeling good with Snell and Skubal anchoring their postseason rotation.

Yasiel Puig’s Dodgers career

Puig hit .279/.353/.478 with 129 doubles, 19 triples, 108 home runs and 331 RBI in 712 career games with the Dodgers. He finished second in 2013 National League Rookie of the Year voting and made his only All-Star Game appearance the following season.

The Dodgers traded Puig to the Cincinnati Reds after the 2018 season. He appeared in 100 games with the club before he was traded to the Cleveland Indians at the non-waiver deadline that year. That wound up being his final stop in MLB.

Since then, Puig has played for the Toros del Este of the Dominican Winter League, El Aguila de Veracruz of the Mexican League, the Kiwoom Heroes of the Korean Baseball Organization (KBO), the Navegantes del Magallanes of the Venezuelan Winter League, the Toronto Maple Leafs of the Canadian Baseball League.
