The San Diego Padres might be losing two more pitchers off their 2023 roster, Cy Young Award winner Blake Snell and closer Josh Hader. Losing those two will be a massive loss to the Friars' roster.
It's unclear how the Padres plan to fill their roles, or those of Nick Martinez, Seth Lugo, and Michael Wacha — all of whom have already departed in free agency.
We know this much: Yu Darvish will enter his fourth year as a Friar, and outside of the five-time all-star, they don't have a ton to hang their hat on when it comes to the rotation. The Padres are searching for a new arm in free agency.
If they could, they might sign Darvish's son.
In a recent video the pitcher released on his Twitter/X account, Darvish sat to catch his son's bullpen session. It seems like the Padres could use the young right-hander.

Like father, like son, right? Darvish's son looks like he's only going half speed, yet that ball zips to the glove.
It's great to see Darvish be a dad and help his son be the best version of himself. If he's doing his best impression of his dad, he's not a bad person to emulate. Darvish has panned out one heck of a major league career for himself, posting a career 3.59 ERA, 31 WAR, 103 wins, and 1,929 strikeouts in 266 games.
Darvish's son looks like he has next. Don't be surprised if we hear more from him in the future. He clearly has a great teacher and mentor by his side.
