Alex Pereira’s first reaction to learning that he was going to be on the cover of the new UFC game was a little out of the ordinary.
The Brazilian UFC icon is infamous for never speaking English, often having himself translated by his trainer Plinio Cruz or simply reverting to his ‘Chama’ catchphrase. However, he managed to get a few words out as he held a copy of UFC 6 and was shown that he is the cover star.
Pereira is a natural choice for the honor, given that he is a two-weight world champion at middleweight and light-heavyweight. He is even pursuing an unprecedented third belt in an interim title fight at heavyweight against Ciryl Gane in June.
A new video posted to social media by EA Sports shows Alex Pereira in the octagon during a promotional shoot being handed a copy of the new UFC 6 video game. He is immediately shocked by the item, and reacts in English before his native Portuguese.

“Holy s—,” he can be seen exclaiming as he takes a look at the box. “Oh my God, amazing.”
He then switches to Portuguese where he adds that “I think this is absolutely cool, and for being in the game UFC 6? Yeah I like my photo here, it’s one of my favourite ones. We see with this how much I’m being recognized for what I’ve done. And to be on the cover of the new game is amazing. Chama!”
