Alexander Volkanovski Accepts Movsar Evloev Callout Following UFC London Victory

At UFC London, Movsar Evloev protected his undefeated record against Lerone Murphy in impressive fashion. After the win, he immediately called out champion Alexander Volkanovski, urging him to take the fight before the Australian champ gets old. Now, Volkanovski has responded.

He joked about the age comment without taking it as an insult. At the same time, he showed real confidence. He admitted he gives himself grief about getting older all the time, laughed at the framing, and then closed with the part that matters most. The old man still has tricks. Still has things to show.

“I mean, that’s all good. I don’t know if you’ve watched any of my socials. I’m giving myself, I was about to say, I’ll give myself a bit of grief. I was going to say a different word. All the time, so I don’t mind paying myself out and having a laugh about it. That is true. This old man’s still got some things, still got some tricks left, so bring it on,” Volk said.

Evloev did not just ask for the fight; he demonstrated to a London crowd why it makes sense competitively. Volkanovski wanting to fight the winner of Evloev vs. Murphy before the bout even happened gave him the opening. The challenger walked through it the moment the final horn sounded. Meanwhile, even Dana White has suggested that the Russian might be the next challenger.

White’s response to the Evloev title shot question at the post-event press conference was about as close to a confirmation. The UFC president never gives without actually signing a contract. “Possibly, yeah. I’m not even thinking about that, the fight just ended. But yeah, he is obviously in great position,” White said at the post-event presser.

The featherweight title picture has been building toward something significant for a while. In light of Murphy, Evloev, and even Arman Tsarukyan possibly moving in the division, the title picture has become interesting. However, after such a dominant performance at UFC London, it now feels considerably less uncertain than it did before.
