Aljamain Sterling wants a shot at the featherweight title – and brought out an old classic line to call for it tonight.
Former bantamweight champion Sterling defeated Youssef Zalal in the main event of UFC Vegas 116 to score his second straight victory and maintain his top five ranking. Now, he is pushing to either leapfrog Movsar Evloev to get a chance at Alexander Volkanovski’s belt, or get a rematch.
In order to make his point, Sterling re-used his infamous ‘coming for your a–‘ line that became a meme when he misspoke at UFC 250 while calling out Petr Yan. This time, he got it right but had to insist it was ‘No Diddy’.
It was a hard-fought five rounds for Aljamain Sterling in the main event of UFC Vegas 116, but he ended up comfortably winning a unanimous decision on every judges’ scorecard. Youssef Zalal was fighting over 25 minutes for the first time in his UFC career, and struggled at times with the veteran’s pace.
After the fight, Daniel Cormier spoke with Sterling about what is next, to which he replied that he was “happy to compete against a young prospect,” whom he feels could very easily be competing for a world title in his own right.
Then he unleashed the infamous line, looking at the camera and telling his rivals: “Movsar, I’m coming for that a– next and Volkanovski, you know I’m coming for that a– next!” When Cormier whispered something in his ear, he doubled down, adding: “No pause.”
As Cormier was attempting to get his next question out, Sterling could also be heard adding “No Diddy!” He then explained that he believes he “brings something different to the table” in a featherweight division that already appears to have two clear contenders in Evloev and Jean Silva.
