Former UFC Bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling has come to the rescue for Movsar Evloev after recent criticism surrounding the Russian featherweight’s fighting style. The conversation picked up after a social media post from a popular MMA page on X praised Evloev’s discipline but pointed towards a lack of finishes despite an undefeated record.

Evloev is currently one of the most talked-about fighters in UFC. As he prepares to take on Lerone Murphy at UFC London, the MMA world is debating if he actually has what it takes to become the next big name in the promotion. Critics have already labeled him boring, as his fighting style is highly dependent on wrestling, and he has won mostly by decision and not by knockouts. However, Sterling believes that narrative is both unfair and misguided.

Responding to the post on X, Sterling clearly stated that Evloev’s dominance should not be mistaken for a lack of excitement. Winning consistently at the highest level is not child’s play. Regardless of how the victories came, Sterling believes Evloev has left no room for doubts. “Great fighter. Win or lose they won’t cut him. His fights aren’t boring at all,” Aljamain Sterling wrote.

“Ppl just think because he’s so dominant in most of his fights, that he should’ve had a finish by this point in the UFC,” Sterling further stated, emphasizing that people often overlook his technical skills and his ability to neutralize opponents.

What Is Next for Movsar Evloev?

After the Lerone Murphy fight, in which Movsar is confident he will win, Evloev aims to fight a big name. Recently, Evloev shed some light on his next target, admitting he has his eyes set on Arman Tsarukyan. The undefeated Russian UFC featherweight star believes Arman will offer an interesting challenge and help him solidify his status in the promotion.

Arman is a very popular fighter. It would be interesting to fight him. I have no disrespect to him whatsoever. But if we’ll have to fight, who am I to turn it down?” Movsar said.

As Evloev aims for a title shot, a fight with Arman will help him get to that point. And the idea doesn’t sound too unrealistic, considering that Arman himself has been hinting at dropping to featherweight for a while now. It is worth remembering, though, that the fight has not yet been confirmed. Whether we will witness a bout between Arman Tsarukyan and Movsar Evloev is still uncertain at this point.
