MIAMI — Amanda Nunes has made her stance crystal clear. She’s not interested in tune-ups, interim titles, or alternative opponents. She wants Kayla Harrison and the undisputed UFC women’s bantamweight title.
With Harrison currently sidelined following neck surgery, discussions have surfaced about creating an interim title fight to keep the division active.
Nunes isn’t entertaining the idea. “I only fight for the (undisputed) belt,” Nunes said. “I know everybody wants a chance… but they just have to wait like I did.”
Widely regarded as the greatest women’s fighter in MMA history, Nunes is focused solely on reclaiming her championship not taking detours along the way.
The long-anticipated clash between Nunes and Harrison was originally targeted for UFC 324 in January but was postponed after Harrison suffered a neck injury requiring surgery.
Since then, the division has been in a holding pattern, with fans and fighters alike awaiting a new date for one of the biggest fights in women’s MMA history.
You can tell Amanda is itching to return. I was hyped for Harrison-Nunes, but this convo got me even more hyped. Massive fight. https://t.co/Xf809c1RnA

Nunes is hopeful the bout can be rescheduled for UFC 329 on July 11, part of the UFC’s annual International Fight Week. “I feel like International Fight Week would be a good one… I hope Kayla is ready,” Nunes said. “I’m ready for her.”
The timeline, however, depends entirely on Harrison’s recovery.
A showdown between Nunes and Harrison represents more than just a title fight it’s a clash of eras and dominance.
For Nunes, it’s about reclaiming her throne. “I’m gonna fight Kayla and take my belt back.”
The UFC women’s bantamweight division remains on pause but for good reason. Because when Amanda Nunes vs. Kayla Harrison finally happens. It won’t just crown a champion. It will define a legacy.
