After being snubbed of the UFC lightweight title shot, Arman Tsarukyan has decided to stay active by competing outside of the UFC.

After withdrawing from his scheduled title fight against Islam Makhachev this past January, Arman Tsarukyan has found himself continuously in the UFC’s bad-books.

And because of that, he was recently snubbed when Dana White announced that Justin Gaethje and Paddy Pimblett will clash for the interim UFC lightweight title at UFC 324.

Just last week, the number one ranked UFC lightweight contender won a world title outside of the premier MMA promotion, when he submitted Mehdi Baydulaev in ACBJJ.

Tsarukyan books match against former world champion

In just over a week, ‘Ahalkalakets’ will step onto the mats again when he will compete in a modified rules grappling match against fellow UFC star, Shara Magomedov at Hype FC.

However, that isn’t the only time he will compete outside of the premier MMA promotion as it was announced this Monday afternoon that the 29-year-old will compete at RAF 5 in a wrestling match.

Tsarukyan will take on former PFL featherweight champion, Lance Palmer, on January 10 from the Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, Florida.

Headlining the event is fellow UFC star Colby Covington, who takes on former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold.

RAF are bringing a lot of excitement back to the world of wrestling, and this past weekend, RAF 04 took place with Yoel Romero picking up an incredible win which stole the headlines.

Is Tsarukyan doing the right thing?

Not long ago, UFC boss White revealed that Tsarukyan still has a lot of work to do before he will be considered for a lightweight title shot.

And even though the Armenian is staying active in competition, competing outside of the UFC will likely get him no closer to the title shot the majority of the fanbase believes he deserves.

During his time out of the Octagon, Tsarukyan is continuing his feuds with Ilia Topuria and Paddy ‘The Baddy’, hoping that in the not so distant future, he will get to compete against one of them for the title.
