UFC lightweight contender Arman Tsarukyan has shared an unexpected plan for his life after MMA.
UFC lightweight contender Arman Tsarukyan has outlined a surprising vision for life after mixed martial arts, despite still being firmly in his competitive prime.
The Armenian fighter has spent years near the very top of the UFC’s 155-pound rankings, yet a title opportunity has continued to elude him. Even when Ilia Topuria stepped away temporarily, Tsarukyan was once again overlooked, a situation that has fueled ongoing discussion about his relationship with UFC president Dana White — who has denied any personal issues.
At just 29 years old, Tsarukyan remains in what many would consider the peak phase of his career. Even so, he has begun planning for the long term and has been open about the fact that financial security will not dictate his post-fighting decisions.
Coming from a wealthy background, Tsarukyan has acknowledged that he does not feel pressure to chase a high-paying career once his time in the UFC comes to an end. Instead, he intends to dedicate himself to an activity he already enjoys and believes offers a fulfilling lifestyle.
Speaking to ACBJJ, Tsarukyan explained that he plans to transition into triathlon rather than stepping away from training entirely. He highlighted his strengths in cycling and swimming, noting that adding running would allow him to travel, compete globally and connect with diverse communities. For him, the appeal lies less in competition alone and more in the experience, calling it “such an interesting hobby.”
While thinking ahead, Tsarukyan has not lost sight of his immediate goals inside the Octagon. He remains determined to fulfill his ambition of becoming a UFC champion and has previously stated his intention to eventually pursue double-champion status.
The lightweight contender has suggested that after a few more fights at 155 pounds, he would consider moving up to welterweight to chase gold in a second division. In the meantime, he continues to stay active outside the UFC cage as well.
On December 30, Tsarukyan is scheduled to face fellow UFC fighter Shara Magomedov in a grappling contest. The bout will mark his fourth grappling appearance of the year, underlining his desire to stay sharp while awaiting the next step in his UFC journey.
