Arnold Allen Attacked on Street for Not Speaking French

UFC featherweight contender, Arnold Allen revealed on his YouTube channel this week that he was attacked on the street for not speaking French. Whilst travelling for training in Montreal, Canada, Allen addressed the marks on his face during his UFC 321 preview.

“We’ve got a different set up at the minute, in Montreal currently training for stuff and I got beat up, erm in the street because I wasn’t using French. Erm, yeah I got jumped because I didn’t speak French. That’s what the bruises are all about, don’t worry about it”.

Allen has been travelling to Montreal to train out of Tristar Gym for a number of years to train under the tutelage of Firas Zahabi. The Canadian gym was made famous for housing Georges Saint-Pierre, Rory MacDonald and a whole host of high-level UFC stars.

Arnold Allen – Difficult Predicament

Arnold Allen is currently ranked #6 in the featherweight division, however, he has struggled to get a fight in recent months. Although he’s never been an extremely active fighter, the Brit hasn’t competed in 2025, nor is he scheduled.

His last performance came against Giga Chikadze in July 2024. He’s one of the most inactive fighters on the UFC roster at the moment. He’s been on the UFC roster for 10 years, however, has only had 13 fights.

He’s got a high ceiling, having headlined two fight night cards and recording big wins on his resumè. He has an exciting style and only loses to the elites of the division. He only has two promotional losses on his record, to former dominant champion, Max Holloway (across five rounds) and a competitive bout with Movsar Evloev (an undefeated phenom).

What’s next for Arnold Allen? If he’s out in Montreal, he could be closing in on a potential return. If the UFC return to England for their annual March card, expect Allen to feature highly on that card, maybe even in the main event. If Lerone Murphy doesn’t get the next title shot, an all British affair could be on the cards. If not, Jean Silva or Youssef Zalal could make for logical match-ups.
