Bob Menery has claimed that he is struggling to get up to the required weight for his MMA fight with Johnny Manziel next week.
Social media star Menery will take on ex-NFL quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Manziel, who became famous for the nickname ‘Johnny Football’, at the UFC Apex. The pair have agreed to compete in a MMA fight on Adin Ross’ live streaming show Brand Risk Promotions this Saturday.
Menery is known for his comedic sports videos and podcasts including being a founding member of the Full Send Podcast. He is known as an impressive golfer, but doesn’t have nearly the same sporting background as Manziel.
Before the fight between Bob Menery and Johnny Manziel was ever signed, Dana White was willing to put down a massive $10,000 bet that the podcaster would find a way to skip it. And he may have found just the reason after the pair signed and agreed to fight.
Despite insisting that he will be there on Saturday night, Menery told fans in an Instagram story that he is struggling to make weight – claiming he needs to pile on mass to keep up with the much bigger Manziel.
“No one knows this,” Menery wrote alongside a photo of one of his meals. “But I have so many disadvantages in this thing. He’s got me by 25 pounds and I have to, like, just try to force myself to eat 24/7 for regulation s—.
“It’s the f—ing worst. Grateful for food in front of me. And could be a lot worse of course. And I have trouble gaining weight, I have my whole life. It’s frustrating and has nothin’ to do with zaps ha. Adin Ross and all of ’em coming in hot this week.”
