Charles Oliveira’s wife has responded to Mauricio Ruffy after he questioned her husband’s performance.

Charles Oliveira became the fourth BMF champion just a few weeks back, defeating Max Holloway in the main event of UFC 326.

Despite controlling most of the fight, with much of it spent on the mat, some fans weren’t pleased with how he got it done.

One of those was Mauricio Ruffy. The lightweight contender said that Oliveira didn’t really look to engage and instead tried to keep things close.

Ruffy under fire from Oliveira’s wife after BMF comments

After the bout, there were rumours of ‘Do Bronx’ potentially facing Conor McGregor next to defend his BMF title.

But Ruffy thinks that door has closed for him because of how the fight played out.

“Charles did what nobody expected, which was to stick to him from start to finish,” Ruffy told Laerte Viana MMA.

“If you go in just to grab someone, in the UFC business you end up losing opportunities. Charles had an incredible fight, but surely the UFC won’t want to see him grabbing and holding (Conor McGregor) and Conor won’t put himself in that position either.”

Ruffy’s comments didn’t go down well with Oliveira’s wife, who fired back at the 29-year-old on social media.

“Then let’s schedule a boxing match because if you want a fight this is f—— MMA there will be Jiu-Jitsu!” Vitoria Brum said on Instagram.

“Ruffy, don’t come trying to surf on my husband’s wave, because he has more submissions than you have fights!”

This comes after calls from fans to change the BMF rules following how that fight went down.

What could come next for Charles Oliveira?

Oliveira is back in the title conversation after knocking out Holloway, even though he had previously suffered a knockout loss to Ilia Topuria just a year ago.

While some fans are hoping ‘Do Bronx’ will face Conor McGregor next, that seems unlikely given the Irishman’s five-year absence from competition.

Arman Tsarukyan is still working his way back into favour with the UFC, and a rematch with Oliveira could be next. That bout would almost certainly serve as a number one contender fight.
