Footage buried in a social media post by Dong Hyun Kim appears to show him being hurt by a shot in sparring from Conor McGregor.
The legendary two-weight world champion welcomed the beloved former UFC star to SBG Ireland in Dublin while he was visiting Ireland and the UK over the past few weeks. Kim also got work in with Paddy Pimblett in Liverpool, and arm wrestled his old rival Gunnar Nelson.
And one video that shows up in a series of clips from the gym seems to indicate that McGregor – a famously hard sparring partner – landed a big shot to the body that caused him to double over. The clip was tenth in a string of pictures and videos, not garnering much attention.
During his trip to Ireland, former UFC welterweight contender Dong Hyun Kim was welcomed into SBG Ireland by the veteran coach John Kavanagh. For the last few months, Conor McGregor has been making more and more regular appearances at the facility as he prepares for a summer comeback.
And Kim was able to get some rounds in with the ex-featherweight and lightweight title holder, sharing some brief videos to social media of their work. Generally, McGregor’s sparring footage is reserved for his video team, but these clips made their way out showing a rare insight into his comeback camp.
Whether or not Kim is actually wobbled, or if he simply buckles as time is called on the round remains to be seen. But he certainly got to feel the power of a McGregor who is now very much a welterweight.
The Irishman is splitting his time between training at the SBG Ireland HQ in South Dublin and working at his own personal gym at his lavish County Kildare home. He has been joined by a host of fighters in the cage, including PFL’s Eoin Sheridan among others.
He even recently took part in an exhibition boxing bout at the Crumlin Boxing Club for their Good Friday Show. McGregor scored two standing eight counts and did three rounds with one of the club’s veterans as he continues to work towards a comeback slated for UFC 329 in July.
