Conor McGregor has opened up a bit about his training camp as he gears up for UFC 329.
The fight will see McGregor step back into the Octagon for the first time in over five years, squaring off against Max Holloway in a rematch.
Recently, St-Pierre spoke about the matchup and suggested that McGregor would benefit from stepping outside his usual routine to get ready for this one.
With the fight now officially set, ‘The Notorious’ has started talking more about how things are going behind the scenes.
McGregor’s work behind the scenes has largely stayed out of the public eye, although some footage has surfaced showing him training with Dong Hyun Kim and others.
Now that his return is official, we’re likely to see a lot more from McGregor’s camp as he ramps up preparations for Max Holloway.
He spoke about the camp in a post on social media, sounding positive about how things are shaping up so far.
“Thank you for all the love, support, and encouragement over the last few days, people! I am feeling very energized entering intense training camp because of it! I am very grateful for the team I have around me,” he wrote on X. “My coaches and training partners, we are all fully tuned in for the challenge at hand and it is a glorious time in our gym!
“Swipe to see an incredible snapshot of sparring with my long-time training partner and friend, Nicolo Solli, who is in phenomenal condition pushing me hard, with coaches monitoring our every exchange. I am better than ever, and I relish the opportunity to once again show my mastery in martial arts to the world.”
The fighter caught mid-air by McGregor’s flying knee is none other than Italian welterweight Nicolo Solli.
Solli holds a professional record of 6-3. He recently returned to action after an extended layoff and has picked up two wins in his last three fights with Cage Warriors.
Towering at 6’2” with a reach of 71.5” (per Tapology), Solli offers valuable looks as McGregor tunes up for another fight at welterweight.
A key storyline heading into this bout is whether McGregor’s size advantage will play a role against Holloway this time around – something many believe could tip things in his favour.
Solli not only fits that profile but exceeds it physically by several inches and pounds. Training regularly against someone that size could help Conor put that advantage to use inside the Octagon when fight night arrives.
