Now that it’s official, Conor McGregor is campaigning to fight at the UFC’s White House event.

President Donald Trump spoke the idea of a UFC fight at the White House into a reality, as this week, new developments have confirmed such a show will take place next year.

Initially targeted for July 4, 2026, the UFC’s White House card is now slated for June, a month earlier.

Many fighters have registered their interest in fighting on the card, such as former interim titleholder Colby Covington, the first UFC champion to be invited to the White House in 2018.

Superstars Jon Jones and Conor McGregor have come up in the conversation to potentially headline, however, UFC CEO Dana White would only trust one of them to—and it’s not the consensus greatest fighter of all time

As for McGregor, it looks like the former double-champ has gotten the jump on what the White House card is all about.

Conor McGregor proclaims comeback fight at The White House

On Friday, The Wall Street Journal revealed details of the UFC’s plans for The White House.

This included fighters getting to warm up inside The White House itself, ceremonial weigh-ins on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, as well as fireworks, light shows, and more festivities.

McGregor took to social media to loudly express his interest in fighting at the historic event.

“MCGREGOR’S RETURN!” McGregor responded to new details emerging for UFC White House.

While he’s not American, the former two-division champion from Ireland shook hands with President Donald Trump in the Oval Office earlier this year.

McGregor plans to run for President of Ireland in the near future.

Conor McGregor has missed out on milestone events before

In the last few months, McGregor has been seen in the gym training for his return to the Octagon after four years away.

McGregor is undoubtedly the biggest star the sport of MMA has ever seen, but that hasn’t always guaranteed him fights on milestone events.

While McGregor headlined the UFC’s first event at Madison Square Garden at UFC 205 in 2016, the Irishman did miss out on fighting at UFC 200 earlier that year, the massive event he was supposed to headline against Nate Diaz at one point.

100 numbered events later, McGregor was nowhere to be found at UFC 300 last year, despite his interest in topping off what could be the deepest card in UFC history.

Time will tell if we get to see ‘The Notorious’ fight on The White House lawn.
