Conor McGregor 'feeling tremendous' after three-hour leg surgery

McGregor, meanwhile, tweeted that his three-hour-long surgery went "excellent" and that he is feeling "tremendous."

The Irishman then tweeted a video from his hospital bed, sending a message about Poirier's "illegitimate win."

"It was a hell of a first round," McGregor said. "It would have been nice to get back into that second round. It is what it is. That's the nature of the business. A clean break of the tibia, and it was not to be. Dustin, you can celebrate that illegitimate win all you want, but you'd done nothing in there. That second round would have shown all."

According to ESPN's Marc Raimondi, UFC president Dana White said that McGregor and Poirier would likely meet for a fourth time once McGregor is healthy.

Poirier also said he and McGregor would fight again "whether it's in the Octagon or on the sidewalk." However, some around UFC believe McGregor is closer to retirement after Saturday's loss, so it's unclear if a fourth bout will ever come to fruition.
