Conor McGregor v Max Holloway 2 confirmed for UFC 329: Dana White trolls Francis Ngannou ring walk with massive news

Conor McGregor is coming back to the octagon on July 11 in Las Vegas, Dana White has confirmed tonight.

The legendary two-weight world champion will rematch Max Holloway in the main event of UFC 329, dragging his old rival up to welterweight. Back in August of 2013, McGregor defeated Holloway by Unanimous Decision after suffering a torn ACL early in the fight.

Now, the pair will fight again as they both move towards the end of their careers. White confirmed the fight during an Instagram live stream right as Francis Ngannou was preparing to walk to the cage on Netflix’s MMA card.

Conor McGregor vs Max Holloway 2 confirmed for UFC 329

Conor McGregor will fight Max Holloway in the main event of UFC 329 on International Fight Week atop a star-studded card. The event takes place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and also features the return of fan favorites Paddy Pimblett and the debut of Olympic gold medalist Gable Steveson.

Pimblett will take on Benoit Saint-Denis, while Steveson will take on Elisha Ellison on a massive fight card.

White made the announcement on a glitchy Instagram Live stream that started – perhaps coincidentally – during Francis Ngannou’s walkout over on Netflix’s big MMA card. The pair are famously bitter enemies, and fans believe there was no coincidence at all.

McGregor has been out of action since July of 2021 when he suffered a broken leg in a trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier. He was due to return at UFC 303 in 2024, but a broken toe saw him forced out of that bout with Michael Chandler.

Holloway has remained active throughout that time, and is an almost completely different athlete to the one who McGregor faced as a youngster in 2013. In the years since McGregor last fought, he has twice competed for the featherweight world title, as well as winning and defending the BMF belt.

However, he was also knocked out for the first time by Ilia Topuria and looked a shadow of his best days against Charles Oliveira in March at UFC 326. McGregor has been in camp for the fight since January, and has drafted in PFL’s Eoin Sheridan as well as Dong Hyun Kim for sparring.
