Rumors of a long-awaited rematch between Conor McGregor and Max Holloway continue to gain momentum. Multiple reports claim the bout is close to being finalized for the main event of UFC 329. The bout will take place on July 11 in Las Vegas. According to the New York Post, an official announcement could arrive within days as McGregor prepares for his first UFC fight since 2021.
The matchup is expected to take place at 170 pounds, a major weight jump for Holloway. The former BMF titleholder has spent most of his UFC career competing at featherweight and lightweight. The two first met back in 2013. McGregor defeated Holloway by unanimous decision during his rise through the UFC ranks.
McGregor has not fought since suffering a broken leg against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. Since then, fans have repeatedly waited for his comeback, including a canceled return bout against Michael Chandler last year. UFC CEO Dana White recently said he was “extremely confident” McGregor would return this summer, although no official deal has been announced yet.

For Holloway, this will be a big moment. He has been wanting to fight McGregor again for a long while.
Popular UFC commentator Daniel Cormier recently revealed that Holloway wants a rematch against Conor McGregor. The former Featherweight champion believes that, after all that he has done for the UFC, he deserves a booking against McGregor.
“He just said it’s what he wants because he feels he’s earned it. Max has put a lot of work in for the company, and he deserves an opportunity to try to right something that he feels was done so wrong so many years ago,” Daniel Cormier revealed.
The duo originally met back in 2013 at UFC Fight Night 26. Unfortunately, Max lost the fight in the third round. Both fighters were trying to make a name for themselves back then. However, this time around, it would be the biggest fight of Holloway’s career.
While there is still no official confirmation from McGregor or Holloway about the fight, this time, it feels more real than ever.
