The face of the PFL, Dakota Ditcheva, features in the co-main event of the historic PFL Africa this weekend as she takes on Sumiko Inaba. The 2024 tournament champion has been out of action since November of last year, the longest time she’s been out of the cage since making her promotional debut.
Speaking to the media, Dakota Ditcheva spoke about her upcoming fight and clearly feels that she is levels above any opponent she’s going to face, especially in the striking range. “I feel that my striking is 100% at a different level”. The English-born phenom also stated, “Some fighters come to fight, I come to kill someone. That’s what makes the difference between champions and fighters”.
When discussing her time away from the action, Ditcheva stated that she’s “excited to get it all back going again” and that she’s “missed out on eight months. My personality hasn’t been shown”.
When asked by MMASucka about potentially suffering from ring rust, Dakota Ditcheva stated she doesn’t believe it to be a factor, however, warns the PFL that if it is, they are going to be the ones who hear about it first. “If there is (any ring rust) that’s something that I’ll have to work through when I get in there, but erm the PFL are going to cop for it if I do have ring rust”. Ditcheva also said, “There is just a switch that goes when I get in there, and I don’t feel that any kind of ring rust is capable of stopping that”.
Ditcheva has had contractual issues with the PFL in recent times, which saw her omission from this year’s flyweight tournament and she has found it difficult to get matched in recent months.
Whatever happens on Saturday night, let’s hope for the PFL’s sake that it’s a quick start for the megastar, Dakota Ditcheva!
