The upcoming White House UFC event for America’s 250th Independence celebration is the most anticipated and widely discussed card lately. This gained major traction after President Donald Trump officially announced the historic UFC event at the nation’s most iconic location. Soon after, Dana White confirmed it, and legends like Jon Jones and Conor McGregor showed interest in fighting.
The event will take place next year and is made possible by the long-standing relationship between Trump and White. Following the announcement, Jones re-entered the testing pool after recently retiring, while McGregor teased a potential comeback. White addressed these developments in detail during a recent interview with the FULL SEND PODCAST, fueling even more anticipation.
Literally everybody wants to fight on this card. Everybody. Here’s the thing, we’re still a year away, and the UFC landscape will change over the next year, so we’ll see where we’re at. But we will absolutely, positively put on the baddest card of all time. He [Jones] jumped back in the pool. Literally everybody wants to fight on this card, [which] makes it a lot more fun… My dream main event right now would be Aspinall vs. Jones.

McGregor’s comeback was a heated topic last year, but constant delays eventually caused fans and media to lose interest entirely. Frustrated by the long wait, fans began doubting ‘The Notorious,’ but he now seems ready to fight at the White House.
As UFC’s biggest star and a known supporter of Donald Trump, McGregor may finally fulfill his promise and compete. Moreover, the Irishman posted a screenshot of the UFC boss loving the idea of a McGregor return at the White House. Now, White also confirmed his wish to have both ‘The Notorious’ and ‘Bones’ fight on the same card.

On the other hand, after months of denying and avoiding the Tom Aspinall title unification bout, Jones shocked everyone by retiring. UFC CEO Dana White revealed they did everything possible and were even ready to offer Jones a hefty fight purse. Despite staying hopeful and patient for months, Aspinall admitted he expected this outcome after witnessing Jones’ strange behavior.
However, Jones is a true patriot who enjoys performing in front of Trump and the passionate MAGA-supporting crowd. At UFC 309, after successfully defending his title, Jones even did a celebratory dance as a tribute to the POTUS. With no current male American UFC champion for the main event, Jones vs. Aspinall appears to be the perfect matchup.
Jon Jones’ old rival, Daniel Cormier , has closely followed and commented on the entire saga surrounding Jones’ recent retirement situation. Given their intense history, both veterans reignited their rivalry with an online back-and-forth over the current UFC drama. In a recent podcast, Cormier pointed out the potential disadvantages of Jones facing Tom Aspinall in the main event.
According to Cormier, facing Aspinall is a huge risk, especially if Jones loses to a UK star on Independence Day. He believes an American legend losing on such a symbolic occasion would not reflect well in front of the national audience. Additionally, the Hall of Famer accused Jones of manipulating fans’ excitement and repeatedly teasing a comeback with no certainty.
My issue, though, was why? So I’m thinking he was trolling. Kind of giving them a hard time because he knows how much they [UFC and fans] wanted him to fight Tom Aspinall. My biggest issue is, why are you playing with people’s emotions? It seemed like that’s something he’s been doing quite a bit lately….He said it’s good to be the hunter now and not the hunted. Don’t keep rolling around playing with our emotions and the fans’ emotions because you know they want to see you fight.

You either fight, or you hit the door.”

Nevertheless, with nearly a year remaining until the White House event, many unexpected developments and changes are still entirely possible. The fight card might undergo several shifts, replacements, or additions, but the overall hype surrounding the event remains incredibly strong. It will be interesting to see how the UFC handles the overwhelming number of superstars eager to join the historic card.
