Just two weeks after his retirement, Jon Jones announced that he had returned to the testing pool. Despite initial doubts from the MMA fanbase, Dana White has now confirmed that to be true.
'Bones' flirted with the thought of retiring for months before eventually relinquishing his UFC heavyweight strap in June, but his plans have since changed. According to the fan-favorite, he relishes being the hunter instead of the hunted as he looks to resume his career inside the octagon.
Jon Jones seemed to have had his interest piqued by the rumored UFC event at the White House. While it's still a year away, Dana White has promised fans one of the best fight cards ever.
"Everybody wants to fight on this card," White said in anticipation of the blockbuster event. "Everybody!"
"Here's the thing, we're still a year away. The whole UFC landscape will change over the next year. We'll see where we're at."
"We will absolutely, positively put on the baddest card of all time. This is going to be like an exceptional pay-per-view card."
Not all fans were buying Jon Jones' alleged return from retirement. However, during a recent appearance on the Full Send Podcast, Dana White confirmed the rumors.
"[Will Jon Jones feature at this event?] He jumped back in the pool. Oh yeah, [it's official]."
"No matter who popped up or who didn't, we would put on an incredible card. But the fact that literally everybody wants to fight on this card makes it a lot more fun."
"The dream main event right now would be [Tom] Aspinall vs. Jones... [Is it possible that Conor McGregor and Jon Jones could fight on the same card?] Could be."
There is a lot to look forward to with the proposed UFC event at the White House. Whether or not promises are fulfilled for the once-in-a-lifetime showcase, fans will still have Jon Jones' return to be excited for.
