Despite beating the likes of Ronda Rousey, Holly Holm and Valentina Shevchenko, Amanda Nunes is often excluded from the greatest-of-all-time MMA conversations, and Dana White believes he knows why.
The UFC president believes there's one specific reason Nunes is left out of the discussion, and it's not what you may think.
"I think it's because she's a woman, to be honest with you," White said, according to TMZ. "It's getting very hard now for people not to start respecting her, especially after this last performance."
Nunes currently has two belts in two divisions, bantamweight and featherweight, and hasn't lost a fight since 2014. The 32-year-old native of Brazil is on an 11-fight win streak and most recently defeated Felicia Spencer at UFC 250, following a tough five-round victory over Germaine de Randamie.
It's not known who Nunes will fight next, but some would like to see her fight Shevchenko for a third time or a match with undefeated champion Claressa Shields.
White commented on both potential fights, and noted he's unsure if he'll throw Shevchenko at Nunes again considering she was defeated twice already. Meanwhile, he doesn't believe Shields could possibly be at the same level as Nunes.
So, quite frankly, we'll have to wait and see who's up next for Nunes.
