Sean Strickland went as far as apologizing for his pre-fight antics last night – but Dana White isn’t sure how long his new persona will last.
A win over Khamzat Chimaev in the main event of UFC 328 saw Strickland make history by becoming a rare two-time middleweight champion. The outspoken American spent the build-up to the fight antagonizing his rival to the point of being kicked when they faced-off, but admits it was mainly for show.
Strickland went to dark places in his efforts to insult Chimaev – and vice versa – with the feud getting so heated that White wouldn’t even let them face-off at ceremonial weigh-ins. However, his post-fight interview was completely different and he was borderline sentimental at the press conference.
After Sean Strickland’s apology, many fans are wondering if he has turned over a new leaf and is now going to become a different type of person. He is known for at times absurd trash talk, which crosses the border into deeply offensive on a regular basis.

Dana White isn’t so sure about all that, having spent years working with Strickland throughout his UFC journey. Speaking with media after tonight’s Zuffa Boxing event, the UFC CEO said: “I highly doubt we have a new and improved Sean Strickland.
“I’ll believe it when I see it, but I’m not buying it. We saw that much of Sean Strickland last night – I don’t know how long that will last. If that’s where he’s headed now, nobody’s happier than me, I promise you that. But I’m not buying it.”
