Dana White is allegedly carrying a significant casino debt.
Sources from Casino.org claim that the figure owed to Las Vegas’ Red Rock Casino is an amount somewhere between $25 million and $50 million. Despite the staggering total, the debt is not believed to be an indicator of financial hardship for White, whose personal wealth is reportedly well over a half-billion dollars. Instead, the balance is said to have accumulated during high-stakes games.
This reported loss stands in stark contrast to the numerous public wins that White has made known. In July, for instance, he was seen winning a massive $1.2 million at the Fontainebleau casino on the night before UFC 317. White also famously boasted that he “clipped” Caesar’s Palace for an astounding $26 million or $27 million.
Fighters and their agents, who often complain about fighter pay, may use White’s lavish spending against him. For example, a fighter seeking a raise might point to a $25 million debt as evidence of a massive financial disparity with the athletes who risk their health in the octagon. Tom Aspinall’s father, Andy Aspinall, was recently vocal about his son not being paid enough, as Tom could explore boxing.
“The money’s there and I don’t see why somebody as talented as Tom shouldn’t have a piece of that money when the boxers are getting a hundred times more, more than a hundred times more. The UFC ain’t paying that type of money. If they would, it would be great and he could get the money, but I think these one percent of people who are very, very good should get paid.
“Tom’s money, some people say it’s good, compared to a [soccer] player, an American footballer who we’ve talked to when we’re in America, he’s earning a tiny fraction of what they’re earning and he’s one of the best in the world at doing what he does and not getting paid enough. And it’s very dangerous, so when he’s got enough to get out of it, I’d say get out of it,” Andy Aspinall said
