Before UFC 321, Tom Aspinall was criticized by Dana White for one reason in particular.
The undisputed heavyweight champion said that he would rather vacate his belt than defend it against one specific opponent.
White called Aspinall “absolutely insane” for not wanting to go up against his teammate and friend, Ante Delija.
With just one win in the UFC, the Croatian heavyweight has already earned himself a spot in the top division’s top 10 rankings.
Delija doubled down on Aspinall’s comments ahead of his return this weekend, but he’s not the only fighter on the card who doesn’t want to square off with a teammate.
Later today, UFC Vegas 110 will take place inside the Apex where in the top two fights, ranked contenders will look to take a step closer to gold.
Fans were surprised to see Steve Garcia and David Onama receive the main event spotlight for November 1.
Both men’s fighting styles should make for an action-packed headliner, which could result in one of them earning a top ten ranking at featherweight come Monday.
While Onama is hoping to extend his streak to five and continue his climb, he recently expressed one concern to MMA Fighting.
He believes that his teammate, Youssef Zalal, who recently beat Josh Emmett in just 98 seconds, should be the next featherweight title challenger.
With both men working towards the same goal, Onama had no issue stating that if they both make it to the top, he would become a lightweight instead of trying to deny his teammate a dream.
“I know a guy, I can’t picture his name,” Onama told MMA Fighting. “Hold on. They call him ‘The Moroccan Devil.’ I feel like that guy should fight Volk next. I think it’s a good matchup.
“He just beat Josh Emmett, so I feel like that guy should fight [Alexander] Volkanovski… If he’s champion, then I guess I got to go up a weight class, huh? I’m going up [if he wins the title].”

Dana White has admitted in recent times that he’s come around on bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili.
The two men previously had a bit of a rocky relationship and a lot of this stemmed from the Georgian’s stance on not wanting to face his teammate.
At a time when he was clearly the most dominant contender at 135 pounds, Aljamain Sterling was the champion, which stopped him from challenging for the belt.
“Why did you even get into this sport if that’s your mentality?” White questioned when he was asked about this in 2013.
