Daniel Cormier wasn’t happy when a UFC icon claimed he made him tap out.
For the most part, ‘DC’ is a very cheerful individual.
However, on occasion, his buttons still get pressed, with Cormier once raging at Khabib Nurmagomedov over a prank.
And it comes as no major surprise that he wasn’t pleased when an icon of the sport said he submitted him inside the gym.
In 2022, Islam Makhachev joined Daniel Cormier on his YouTube channel for an interview.
During their chat, tensions boiled when they discussed their rounds inside the gym.
Discussing a clash between the pair, Cormier, said: “If I were fighting you, I would pressure you, and I would immediately just take you down. I think that’s how I beat you.”
In response, Makhachev ominously said: “After a couple of days, I’m going to post a video.”
Baffled by the comment, the former heavyweight champion responded: “A video of what, me beating you?”
The Russian claimed: “You tap, brother.”
Utterly stunned, Cormier raged: “This is crazy. How do you do this? How do you convince yourself that this is the reality?”
Makhachev insisted: “I have the video.”
Launching verbal bombs, DC asked: “How many times did I smash you in the gym? Many times.”
Not backing down, the Dagestani said: “Post the video, people have to understand,” To which Cormier answered back: “That I smash your face.”
Makhachev chuckled: “Never.”
That instance isn’t the only time the pair have clashed.
The gifted mixed martial artists have a close connection, having both represented American Kickboxing Academy.
With such a friendship, the now former lightweight champion isn’t afraid to push the boundaries of humor.
On one occasion, Cormier slapped Makhachev over a joke he made.
