Derrick Lewis (29-12 MMA, 20-10 UFC) reminded everyone why he’s the UFC’s all-time knockout king, ending Tallison Teixeira’s (8-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) unbeaten run in emphatic fashion. In a fight many thought would showcase a new generation of heavyweight talent, Lewis flipped the script and delivered vintage violence. Teixeira, the younger and more well rounded prospect, entered the bout undefeated but his perfect record didn’t survive the first round at UFC Fight Night in Nashville, TN.

In the opening moments of the fight, Tallison Teixeira landed a punch that visibly bothered Lewis’ right eye. The veteran briefly covered up, blinking and showing signs of discomfort. But as Teixeira pressed forward, likely sensing an opportunity, Lewis uncorked a thunderous left hand that landed flush on the jaw.

Clearly Lewis used a veteran tactic against the much younger fighter. Making the younger fighter think that he was actually hurt When the whole time he was just being baited and unfortunately for Teixeira, he took the bait and he paid the price for it.

Post fight phone call?

Once again, during his post fight celebration, Derrick Lewis did what he does best and that’s moon the crowd. The crowd absolutely loved it. Shortly afterwards he got a phone call from President Donald Trump.

“Derrick came over and said ‘Where’s the President?’,” UFC CEO Dana White said at the post-fight press conference.

“And I said he’s not here tonight, but he’s watching. And I got him on the phone and put him on the phone.”

When asked about the details of the conversation, he said that it was ‘classified’.

Wifey next?

After the win, Daniel Cormier asked Lewis who he wanted to face next in the Octagon.

And he received a traditional explicit response from Lewis.

“I’ve been gone for two weeks… so I want my wife next,” Lewis said, forcing Cormier in try to keep it together.

“It’s going to be a lot of ground and pound, grounding and pounding… she know what it is. Look at that fine a**.”
