UFC featherweight prospect Lerryan Douglas was transported to a local hospital for precautionary CT scans following a violent knockout loss at UFC Sacramento on Saturday night.
Douglas, who entered his bout against Jamall Emmers as a massive -380 betting favorite, was stopped by a clean right hand less than four minutes into the opening round at Golden 1 Center. MMA Mania confirmed with UFC officials that Douglas was the only fighter from the card who required hospital transport.
The loss marked the first setback in the Octagon for the Brazilian, who turned heads in his promotional debut by violently finishing Julian Erosa in under four minutes at UFC Seattle. Douglas had earned his contract by smoking Cam Teague in just 36 seconds on Dana White's Contender Series.
During fight week, Douglas revealed that two ranked featherweights declined to face him. The result of Saturday's scans has not been publicly disclosed. UFC routinely transports fighters for additional evaluation after knockouts or damaging finishes as a standard precaution.
Emmers snapped Douglas's six-fight winning streak with the finish in the featured preliminary bout. No timeline has been announced for Douglas's return to the cage.
