EA Sports has unveiled the reveal trailer for UFC 6, as the opening sequence shows Max Holloway knocking out Conor McGregor.
The choice is deliberate. McGregor defeated Holloway by decision in August 2013, when both men were unproven featherweights still building their names. Holloway has since gone on to become one of the most celebrated fighters in UFC history, and the rematch has been one of the sport’s most persistent talking points.
With McGregor rumored to finally make his return against Holloway on July 11 at UFC 329 in Las Vegas — a rematch of that 2013 bout — the trailer’s opening image lands with clear intent. Holloway’s version of events plays out in the game before it plays out in real life.
The dual cover athletes — Holloway and Alex Pereira — are given extensive screen time throughout the trailer, alongside current and former champions including Ilia Topuria, Georges St-Pierre, and Khabib Nurmagomedov. The closing sequence belongs to Chuck Liddell and Randy Couture, who square off in a staredown as part of a UFC Legends package that also features Ken Shamrock.

UFC 6 releases June 19 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Players who pre-order the Ultimate Edition receive seven days of early access from June 12, placing the game in players’ hands five days before the UFC Freedom 250 White House card and four weeks before McGregor’s expected return at UFC 329.
The trailer’s decision to open with a Holloway knockout of McGregor is the kind of marketing that operates on two levels simultaneously. It promotes the game, and it promotes the fight. If the rematch at UFC 329 delivers what both the trailer and twelve years of build-up suggest, EA will have timed its release almost perfectly.
