Francis Ngannou Still King Of The Heavyweights?

For the first time in two years former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou will be getting back into action but at a different home. After leaving the UFC after a heated contract dispute. Ngannou found a new home at Professional Fighters League (PFL).  He’ll face last year’s PFL heavyweight champion, Renan Ferreira in the main event of  PFL Super Fights: Battle of the Giants in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Since Francis Ngannou’s departure from the UFC he has made his way into the boxing right by fighting two of the best heavyweights in their era in Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua. Ngannou looked impressive against Fury, he managed to knock down the heavyweight champion. Despite that Fury got a debated majority decision that had fight fans saying that Ngannou was robbed. Fury didn’t really prepare for that fight and it showed during the fight. Anthony Joshua on the other hand did prepare for Ngannou and he knocked him out cold.

The return

Finally after two years Francis Ngannou will get to show the world who is still king of the heavyweight when it comes to MMA. He faces a very dangerous opponent in 6-8 Ferreira who has knocked out his last four opponents. So I think it’s safe to say that somebody is going to get knocked out. This fight will not go the distance based off of these two fighting styles.

Ngannou has some extra motivation for his bout. He’ll be fighting in honor of the memory of his 15 month old son Kobe who passed away in this past Spring.

“I hope he is watching but I really don’t know the answer to that,” Ngannou says. “I just want to keep him alive, you know? His name. Don’t forget about him so soon. I want to express what he really meant.”
