Gina Carano reflected on the fight and her comeback journey in a statement on social media.

Ronda Rousey was full of praise for Carano after ending their main event clash on Netflix in just 17 seconds.

The Hollywood star was understandably disappointed that she wasn’t able to show any of what she’d been working on during her training camp.

While the likes of Merab Dvalishvili highlighted how good Carano looked throughout her preparations, she’s admitted that there are several things she should have done differently.

Gina Carano reflects on weight loss struggles and error she made against Ronda Rousey in first post

It has been no secret that Gina Carano lost a lot of weight in order to step back inside the cage following 17 years away from MMA.

In her first statement after the fight, she revealed that this was a constant battle that made her preparations very difficult, writing on X that she could count on two hands the amount of times she felt good while training.

Carano said that she learned “a little late” how to do this healthier but this wasn’t the only mistake that she admitted to making.

“My heart is heavy, I wanted to throw, battle, win, but I kicked when I should have moved and was down and done,” she posted on various social media platforms. “If I hadn’t tapped she would’ve broken my arm, as it had begun to crackle. The disappointment of losing like that is very humbling.”

Carano also recalled how some post-fight comments from Jon Jones giving her respect for even attempting a comeback stayed with her after the loss.

She said she adores Ronda Rousey when speaking incredibly highly of her while hoping that Most Valuable Promotions continue to have success.

Carano also highlighted the work that the California State Athletic Commission did in regards to monitoring her weight and health.

“I needed to go through this fight to implement permanent lifestyle changes and now I feel like this is just the beginning. I can’t wait to see where I can push my body to go next.

“Thank you ALL for showing your support. It’s because of you we get to face our fears and live our dreams. With all my heart, thank you all.”
