Hernandez Makes Dolidze Tap; Calls For Title Shot

Anthony Hernandez made Roman Dolidze tap in the fourth round via a rear-naked choke at UFC Vegas 109 in their middleweight clash.

The opening round resulted in immediate action. Hernandez controlled the center of the octagon, getting the first takedown, followed by numerous strikes in a very positive start. Hernandez continued to press forward, outlanding his man with combinations. Near the end of the second, Hernandez launched heavy ground and pound shots. He thought he had won the fight as the referee intervened, only for the fight to continue. 

Hernandez continued his dominance in the third, pushing Hernandez on the cage. That pressure eventually told in the fourth. After securing a takedown, Dolidze was penalized for grabbing the fence. Hernandez then landed knees to the head before locking in a rear-naked choke, as Dolidze tapped. Hernandez then called for a title shot against Dricus Du Plessis, who faces Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 319 on August 16 in a defense of his middleweight belt.

“They’ve done a great job of matchmaking me. I want to prove that I can take the title. If it has to be a BMF title just to take a contender seat, then run it. I want a belt, I want something. I want to prove that I’m the best in the world,” Hernandez said
