Holly Holm on boxing return: 'Maybe it's just unfinished business'

Before becoming the UFC women's bantamweight champion, Holly Holm was a world class boxer. She was multiple-time world champion in three weight classes. On June 28, "The Preacher's Daughter" will return to the ring on the Jake Paul vs. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. fight card against Yolanda Vega in a 10-round lightweight bout.

The kick-off press conference for the event took place on Wednesday in Los Angeles. Afterward, Holm answered questions from the media and doesn't think a title fight is that far away.

"I don't think I need too many (bouts before fighting for a title). One, maybe two fights and then fight for a title. I know I'm still ready to rock and roll," Holm said.

At 43, Holm doesn't have a lot of time left in combat sports. "Honestly, I've got a year or two left," she said.

Holm's boxing return was motivated by 'unfinished business' and her desire to box at 135 pounds.

"In boxing, I fought at 140, 47, 54. In MMA, the majority of my career was at 135. I never got to box at 35," said Holm. "[Katy] Taylor, [Amanda] Serrano, all the names are in that weight class, so I've got my eyes on the prize."

"I don't know, maybe it's just unfinished business," Holm answered when asked what inspired her boxing return. "My last boxing match was maybe going to be at 135 and my opponent said, 'No. I want to fight at 140' because that was the belt that I had... I always thought, man, I would have been able to have four weight divisions' belts. Maybe it's just unfinished business."
