Ronda Rousey took a shot at Valentina Shevchenko earlier this week, but that wasn’t the beginning of their feud.
Earlier this year, it was shockingly announced that Ronda Rousey would be returning to MMA for a fight against Gina Carano on the first ever Netflix MMA event, promoted by Most Valuable Promotions.
The most surprising part about the fight announcement was that the UFC will have nothing to do with the fight that has been over 10 years in the making.
And Rousey is making her thoughts about the premier MMA promotion abundantly clear during the lead up to her comeback, and she even took aim at UFC women’s champion, Valentina Shevchenko.
During an epic rant about the UFC and how they are massively regressing because of their lack of desire to make big fights, Rousey took aim at fighter pay.
And during her speech, ‘Rowdy’ claimed that because of ‘poverty’ pay, fighters like Shevchenko are seeking pay on platforms like OnlyFans.
That of course didn’t sit well with ‘Bullet’, who exclusively uses the platform to give her fans a behind the scenes look into her training, and she issued her response.
But this isn’t where their feud began, and it isn’t the first time they have had a disagreement in the media.
A few months ago, Rousey took aim at UFC icon and commentator, Joe Rogan, claiming that he isn’t an MMA expert and is simply ‘a fan with an audience’.
Not long after, Shevchenko jumped to the defense of Rogan, saying that he is a ‘huge expert of martial arts’, going against Rousey’s claims.
During the same week, Shevchenko offered her thoughts on Rousey crowning herself as the greatest female fighter of all time.
“For me, it’s a very hard question of who is the greatest, and I will never say myself because I’m not that kind of person who puts my name in front of everyone… Everyone did enough things to secure the sport in this position,” she said.
At this point, it is unclear why Rousey took aim at Shevchenko, and whether her comments regarding her status as the greatest of all time hit a nerve.
At this point, it is relatively clear that Shevchenko has achieved much more than Rousey ever did in the sport, despite Rousey being one of the biggest UFC stars ever.
And although Shevchenko has never been a natural bantamweight throughout her career, she would’ve been highly favored in a fight against ‘Rowdy’ Ronda, even if the fight was in both of their respective primes.
