Taking to Instagram last night, Dana White announced that Ian Garry will return to action to face former champion, Belal Muhammad. This fight will go down in Doha, Qatar, the promotion’s debut in the country, on November 22nd.

In the main event, Dan Hooker meets Arman Tsarukyan in what promises to provide fireworks at lightweight.

Ian Garry Promises Dominance in Qatar

Following the announcement, Ian Garry took to Instagram to give his prediction on the fight.

He stated:

“You’re gonna see speed like you’ve never seen before. Belal Muhammad, a respected former champion, will be made to look like an amateur in front of your very eyes. You watched me decimate Magny, shut down Shavkat, piece up Prates now you’re about to witness the greatest version of ‘The Future’ – Qatar you’re very lucky indeed”

Now that’s a statement from Ian Garry.

Through his statement, he reminded fans and Muhammad alike just what he’s capable of. He’s correct in identifying that he did indeed ‘decimate’ Neil Magny, outlanded in the veteran 111-51 across three rounds. He did indeed ‘piece up’ Carlos Prates, this time across five rounds. What was so impressive about this one is that he jumped into the Prates fight on short notice, showing a well-rounded game and mixing the martial arts.

His claim of shutting down Shavkat Rakhmonov is a stretch, however. He again stepped in on short notice to face the undefeated Kazakh star and took him the full five rounds, the first person to survive against Rakhmonov.

Saying he ‘shut down’ Shavkat simply isn’t true. He lost the fight 48-47 on all scorecards.

Garry will have his hands full in Qatar when he faces Belal Muhammad, as the former champion will be determined to get his strap back.

Muhammad’s Road to Qatar

Remember the Name , Muhammad will want to get straight back to winning ways in Qatar after Jack Della Maddalena snapped his 11 fight undefeated run to snatch the belt away from the Chicago native.

Muhammad didn’t look his usual self against JDM, not wrestling as much as he usually does, opting to strike more often than not, to his detriment.

Talking on his YouTube channel, Muhammad responded to Garry saying:
“We’ve already seen you on the ground, butt in the air, close to being broken. Prates just couldn’t finish the job. When I’m in there with you, I’m going to beat you up. It’s going to be a bad day, a bad night for you. I just want to get this loss off my back. I need to get back on the right side. I’m the best in the division. I know I’m the best in the division. November 22, I get to prove it again. I get to go out there, dominate, and then get back to where I belong and that’s for the welterweight title.”

At 37 years old, it’s now or never for Muhammad. If he loses to Ian Garry at UFC Qatar, he can wave goodbye to ever getting in the title picture again. All the pressure is on the former champion in this one.
