Ibragim Ibragimov is a name you need to get to know. The PFL star progressed to 10-0 in Brussels, Belgium on the latest PFL Europe card. With an extremely talented family, Ibragimov is ambitious, wanting to follow in his brother’s potential footsteps.
At just 21 years old, Ibragim Ibragimov is already making waves in the PFL. After a 7-0 amateur career, Ibragimov made his debut on the local scene, progressing quickly to 6-0 as a professional. This run included an impressive five finishes in a number of various ways. He made his PFL debut against Josh Reed, finishing his more experienced opponent in the first round. Not only this, but it took him just 50 seconds to do so. Impressive for sure. The PFL clearly have high hopes for Ibragimov as his second promotional fight was on the blockbuster PFL Super Fights card, where he went the full 15 minutes against fellow European, Ignacio Campos. The Dagesani-born fighter would go on to pick up two more decision victories, most recently, in Belgium. Now training at Manchester Top Team, Ibragimov has a huge future ahead of him and for now, the PFL is the perfect platform for him. He has ambitions of becoming the youngest ever PFL champion, a feat held by fellow Manchester Top Team killer, Dakota Ditcheva.
It’s in the blood. The Ibragimov name is one that we’ll be hearing about for a number of years, however, it isn’t just in MMA that the name will likely become famous. Three of the four Ibragimov brothers play for the famous Manchester United Football Academy. Amir, Gazik and Muhammad are all products of the youth team, destined for a big future. Amir, in particular, is the stand-out. Having been backed by the greatest football manager of all time, Sir Alex Ferguson, Amir has represented England at youth level.
It’s the ambition of Ibragim Ibragimov, who wants to follow in his younger brother’s footsteps, that makes his rise in MMA so exciting. He anticipates that his brother, Amir, will make his Manchester United first team debut during this upcoming season. As fans of football will know, Manchester United play at the famous Old Trafford stadium and Ibragimov is ambitious about his future at ‘The Theatre of Dreams’.
Last year, Ibragimov stated: ‘Maybe in the future we’ll bring PFL over to Old Trafford and make it a big show‘. Despite it being very unlikely, never say never. The PFL are doing things that other promotions aren’t doing. The UFC are yet to crack Africa, however, the PFL will make their debut in South Africa later this year. The UFC don’t like to do stadium shows, however, if the PFL do so, it could be huge. What better way to kick off a European stadium show with Ibragimov and Ditcheva sat atop the bill?
Whatever happens, the future of Ibragim Ibragimov is extremely bright and with a record of 10-0 at just 21 years old, there’s a good chance that he could become a multi-weight PFL champion (if his teammate Umar Nurmagomedov relinquishes the lightweight belt). Does he have a future in the big leagues of the UFC? If he continues his upward trajectory, there’s little doubt that Dana White and co will be looking at him.
