Despite last week’s announcement, Jones has teased a possible return via social media.
In the latter years of his career, Jones has used social media as vehicle to connect to fans and critics alike.
Following his announcement, a fan wished him a ‘happy retirement’. Jones made a comment that took people by surprise.
“I appreciate it,” Jones said in response to the fan’s message. “But I’m really not retired.”
Jones then insisted that he wants to continue to travel the world and meeting MMA fans.
Jones said, “I’ll be all over the country and all over the world. Meeting people who love the sport the most.”
Most fans were disappointed in there not being a unification match between he and Tom Aspinall after months of speculations and negotiations between the two fighters and the UFC.
Regarding ending his career, Jones said, “I was told 1000 times to just reconsider and just give it more time,” Jones told a fan on X regarding the unfulfilling end to his career. “That’s the truth.”
