UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev reached out to a fan battling cancer through a FaceTime call that was later posted to social media.

Sherdog reports that the exchange between the Dagestani titleholder and the supporter appeared in a post that drew attention across MMA circles this week. The gesture continues Makhachev's pattern of connecting with supporters outside of fight week obligations.

The video call was shared by user Alexis on Instagram, showing the interaction between fighter and fan. Makhachev has maintained the lightweight belt since defeating Charles Oliveira in October 2022 and defended it three times.

The champion is expected to return to the Octagon later this year, though no opponent or date has been confirmed by the UFC. He trains out of American Kickboxing Academy in San Jose under head coach Javier Mendez.
